Cougar sighting reports drop
There have been no confirmed kills of pets or livestock," reports fish and wildlife officer Owen Butz about the recetn cougar scare in Wabasca. A rash of sightings of a big cat, including one who was sniffing around a residential deck has caused fish and wildlife officers to caution the public to be aware that Wabasca is in cougar country and when a cougar is haning around the community, everyone should be extra careful.

New cadet program in Wabasca attracting youths
It appears the new Wabasca Community Cadets program will be a success in attracting youths. Following a late September presentation by representatives of the Hobbema Community Cadets and rCMP Sergeant Mark Linnell who manages community cadets programs, the Desmarais RCMP detachment office began accepting registrations.

Mistassiniy volleyball teams super active during October
Volleyball is the big sport during the month of October at Mistassiniy School. Last weekend the senior boys and girls squads competed in a tournament in High Prairie. The same volleyball teams will head for Grimshaw on October 16 and 17 and then to LaCrete on October 23 and 24.
